Joke of the week: Frankie Boyle on award ceremonies

'My only brush with awards is that I was once at the Scottish Baftas. Yes, the Scottish Baftas - it's like hearing that animals have their own Olympics.'

Frankie Boyle, The Scotsman (2007)

A polarising but vital stand-up, Glaswegian Frankie Boyle became one of the country’s most recognisable comedians following as a panel member on TV show Mock The Week, in which it seemed everything from the Queen to veterinary surgeons were fair game. Though Boyle is less prolific on the small screen, his sellout tours and biting political satire make him one of Scotland’s most distinctive voices.
