Edinburgh Trams play to debut at Fringe

A FRINGE show based on the frustrations of Edinburgh residents during the years in which the troubled line was being built will debut at the Traverse Theatre.

Bloody Trams sees two performers act out the thoughts of commuters, motorists and festival-goers to a musical accompaniment from composer and pianist David Jones.

The show will include interviews conducted on Saturday, when thousands flocked to the trams launch.

It will also touch on interviews with visitors and local people to be carried out in the first week of the festival. And it also takes ideas from tweets using the #bloodytrams hashtag.

An earlier version of the play which ran in March was well received by audiences, producer Joe Douglas said.

Douglas said: “The tram works have hugely affected Edinburgh. Incorporating the stories of locals with those of festival-goers will add a new angle to the ongoing experience of the Edinburgh trams.”

He added: “I’m really excited to have the chance to revisit the material and create an updated version for the late-night Traverse festival audience.”
