The foul-mouthed prankster, played by Daniel O’Reilly, was scheduled to perform at Campus Glasgow on April 2.

But a huge web campaign by students angry at his offensive, lad-style humour, have forced the university organisers to pull the event - after 1,035 people signed the petition.

Speaking to student newspaper The Tab, one complainer said: “He is the epitome of the misogynistic lad culture that has seeped into universities.

“Sexist idiocy should not be rewarded.”

O’Reilly was widely criticised in November 2014 after accusations that his ITV programme ‘On the Pull’ was degrading to women.

Shortly after the accusations, O’Reilly claimed a female in the audience at one of his live events was ‘gagging for a rape.’

An online petition aimed at cancelling ‘On the Pull’ received over 68,000 signatures, with ITV confirming they would not be renewing the show for a second series.

O’Reilly announced during a Newsnight appearance on November 11 that he was retiring the Dapper Laughs character, blaming the media for the backlash.

But on Christmas Day last year, O’Reilly reintroduced the character, and announced a stand-up show in January 2015.
