Comedy review: Ford and Akram: Bamp!Pleasance Courtyard (Venue 33)

IF YOU enjoy nothing more than a silly, pointless crusade – and if you don’t, then you have too little time on your hands – you might consider helping Louise Ford and Yasmine Akram in their quest to popularise a new colloquialism: bamp.

RATING: * * *

The word means nothing – for now – so it’s wide open for use and, more importantly, misuse. Ford and Akram try out a number of potential contexts in a sequence of sporadically amusing sketches which typically play on Akram’s beauty and self-centredness and Ford’s unlikely haplessness and loneliness (well, someone has to be the fall girl).

I suspect that the success of their mission will hinge on winning over drunken recruits to their cause. Sadly, their time slot, and lack of laugh-out-loud moments, is against them.

Until 27 August.
