T in the Park review: Earth, Wind & Fire, Main Stage

“Earth, Wind & Fire in Scotland,” began frontman Philip Bailey, introducing his band below sunshine that never looked like being threatened by other elements.

Opening with Boogie Wonderland, one of several instantly recognisable career milestones, Earth, Wind & Fire began briskly and carried on in the same manner, stomping their way through lustrous classics such as Shining Star and Fantasy.

By all accounts, the band looked to be enjoying the experience as much as the early birds below. Verdine White, in particular, was a picture - wearing the frilliest of frilly white shirts and a pair of silk purple pattern trousers that would defeat most men of his age, the bassist, jigging and shuffling throughout the show, epitomised the joyous atmosphere that made for one of the highlights of the festival.
