Susan Mansfield introduces more winners of the National Galleries of Scotland annual creative writing competition

EVERY year, hundreds of writers of all ages enter Inspired?– Get Writing!, the creative writing competitionfor poems and short stories inspired by art in theNational Galleries of Scotland.

This week, The Scotsman is pleased to publish the winners

in each of the five categories alongside the works which inspired

them: in today's paper you will find the winners in

the Under 12s, 15-18 years and Unpublished adults categories,

merits, below.

Inspired? – Get Writing! is organised by the National Galleries

of Scotland in partnership with the English-Speaking

Union and the Scottish Poetry Library. the winners and runners-

up from the past two years will be published in an illustrated

book in the autumn, made possible by the support of

the Gordon Fraser Charitable trust.

The winners, runners-up and special merit entries in each

category will receive a public reading as part of a series of free

events tomorrow in the Hawthornden Lecture theatre at the

National Galleries Complex: Under 12s 10:30-11:30am; 12-14s

and 15-18s 1:30-3pm; Unpublished and published adults 5:30-

7pm.
