Streaming site Netflix has announced that it is renewing Stranger Things for a third season.

Netflix revealed the news on Friday on their Twitter account. It comes after many rumours that another series of the science fiction horror show was in the works. Writers, directors and producers, the Duffer Brothers had previously confirmed that they were working on season three in interviews with Netflix just to confirm the rumours.

Netflix revealed the news by sending out a tweet saying: “FOR THE LOVE OF STEVE, YES. Hold on to your nail bats. Season 3 is officially happening.”

Stranger Things has proved to be a big hit that has gained a large following. It has also received critical acclaim picking up five awards at the 2017 Emmy Awards. It also picked up a Screen Actor’s Guild Award earlier this year for best drama series ensemble.

It’s thought that strong original programmes including Stranger Things have helped to boost the streaming site’s customer base to just over 83 million subscribers, despite a price rise.
