Q J Reid from Willowbrae writes: “I would like any information about a toy shop I think must have been on the opposite side of Greenside Lane, where the Theatre Royal bar now stands. The shop had a window set at right angles to the main shop. As a child, this window seemed huge because it went right down to the pavement. It had a narrow surround painted red, I think, and was crammed with toys. I would love to see a photograph of this area.” Can anyone help?

Q Joan Brown of Penicuik writes: “Can anyone tell me what has happened to the well which was housed in the garden of No 1 Merchiston Park. This well fed the old Fountain Brewery which no longer exists.”
