Known for his room-filling effervescence, Amos puts the cha-cha in charm but some may have noticed that behind that crisp and clean exterior dwells an altogether different animal - a deep-thinking, problem-spotting and question-asking sort of gentleman. Or so he claims.

Discover for yourself at The Stand, York Place, on Sunday, where Amos will invite the public to meet this inner friend... So is it no more Mr Nice Guy?

Of course not, but Stephen’s got some questions and concerns, such as ‘Why is the world reacting to Russia’s Ukraine invasion as it is?’ and ‘Why are people really voting for UKIP?’, and to be honest is getting a little peeved that people in 2014 are still reluctant to talk about racial and sexual inequality – at dinner parties anyway.

Amos explains, “Even in this day and age, we still don’t like to talk about things like race and sexuality or how much money you earn, all those awkward dinner party conversation fillers. There’s a certain weirdness that can spark up in those areas and that gives me a springboard to be awkward within the show and ask the audience the awkward, challenging questions.”

Expect the genial host of course (he’s a comedian after all – making people laugh is his business), but with just the tiniest dash of subversion thrown in for good measure.

Amos has established himself as a household name over the last decade, performing shows at the Fringe every August since 2003, which have included the no-holds-barred All Of Me, Find The Funny and The Best Medicine.

He has also become a well known face on TV appearing in his own show, The Stephen K Amos Show, on BBC2, Celebrity Great British Bake Off Comic Relief, Live At The Apollo, Mock The Week, The Royal Variety Show and One Night Stand on Dave.
