Pick of the club nights

10-86 does what it says on the tin. Promoter Gordon Barclay explains that the club’s name is also a Chicago police call sign for disturbance in progress and aptly so for, as he says, “10-86 goes off like a full-scale riot every month”.

“Our music policy is real techno,” he continues. “I’ve never compromised on our guest DJs and every of them nails the Beatport charts after playing 10-86.

“The DJs we select are not big commercial names, they’re real underground DJs playing cutting-edge techno – no fakers, no divas. I don’t have a problem telling them what the score is. I’m not scared of the truth – it’s a party and I want them to bang it out.”

Madrid’s premiere DJ duo, Gabriel D’Or and Bordoy, testified to this by naming their current Beatport top ten the Club 10-86 Chart.

Barclay reinforces the point. He says, “Gabriel and Vince had a blast last month and we treated them like our mates, as we do anyone who comes along to 10-86.

“We took them to the football on Sunday and partied with them until their flight home on Monday. That’s how we roll and the boys loved it.”

Tomorrow’s line-up features Barclay, Warner Powers, Gerry Mawhinney (Vinyl Club / Leith FM), My Evil Twin (Bulletdodge), Kyle Arnold and yours truly (Vinyl Club/Leith FM).

“Our residents are off the scale,” states Barclay, “They can easily match any big-name DJ – anywhere, any time.”
