LOOKING for places to take the kids this week? Tired of them being cooped up indoors?

Why not head to the Hermitage of Braid Visitor Centre, on Braid Road, this Friday and get in the mood for Hallowe'en.

The city council's ranger service is hosting Historical Haunted Hermitage from 1pm to 3pm, a free event not for the faint at heart.

Follow a local "witch" to discover fascinating characters from the past who once lived on the Hermitage Estate.

The event is suitable for children aged eight to 18, and all under-16s must be accompanied by an adult.

Arrive in costume if you dare, but wrap up warm as it is likely to be cold.

The ever popular Gardening 4 Kids workshop is also taking place on Friday at the Bridgend Allotments, on Old Dalkeith Road.

The after-school session is suitable for six to 10-year-olds who want to learn how to grow food and try other outdoor activities. It runs from 2pm to 3:30pm. For more information, call 07771 344856.
