One of Scotland's oldest cars

Gillian Ellin's query relates to the history of an old car she owns. She says: "I am the fortunate owner of one of the oldest cars registered in Scotland, a 1904 Wolseley Tonneau 'SE22'- so the 22nd registered in Scotland East. The car was delivered new on the 18th May 1904 to J.R.Findlay of Drumsheugh Gardens Edinburgh.

The car is regularly driven and is in the London to Brighton run each year. Might any of your readers know anything of the car's early history, or owners, or have photos,as it would have been a rare sight at that time? Would anybody know whether J.R.Findlay of Drumsheugh Gardens was related to John Ritchie Findlay owner of the Scotsman Newspaper and a famed Edinburgh philanthropist? The car was in Edinburgh until found in Croals Garage in 1946 and I would dearly like to learn anything of its early life as it represents an important part of the history of early motoring. Photos of the car may be seen on the V.C.C. site LBVCR.com-2009 entrant 478."
