Old Leith cinema

Brian Watt of Hunters Tryst asks: Back in the 1930's there used to be a cinema in Leith on the corner of Henderson Street and Tolbooth Wynd, where the Raj restaurant now stands. Can anyone please tell me what this cinema was called and if possible, when it closed?

Tom Wallace, now living in San Francisco, says: "The Empire Picture Palace was located at Tolbooth Wynd and Henderson Street. It opened 14 April 1913. Films were "For The King" and "Tale of Two cities". It closed around 1930 or 1931."
