Old Carlton Cinema

ALAN Graham, from Musselburgh, would like to know more about a former Carlton Cinema in the Capital. "It was located roughly where the Morrisons superstore petrol station is now, in Piershill."

• TAKEN from the book The Last Picture Show, by Brendan Thomas, the following information was supplied: "The 1,400-seat cinema opened on December 23, 1935. The small size of the auditorium and a lack of suitable films were given as reasons for its closure in July 1959. The building later became a lemonade factory and then a garage for a transport company."
