Rodgers is the latest big name to be added to the bill of the event, on 24 September, which will also feature Amy Macdonald, Twin Atlantic, Midge Ure and Eddi Reader.

The National Theatre of Scotland, Scottish Ballet and Scottish Opera will also feature in the one-off show, which is being masterminded by T in the Park’s organisers and is open to the public.

The audience will get the chance to greet the European and American teams who will contest the Ryder Cup at Gleneagles.

Geoff Ellis, chief executive of promoters DF Concerts, said: “It’s a long-time career ambition of mine to work with Nile Rodgers and he brings star quality to the show.

“This concert is about so much more than one act, it’s all about the collaborations and presentation - I can’t wait to see it all come to life when September rolls around.”
