The first trailer for the sixth season of the show was released last night. Since the end of season five, fans have been speculating over Jon Snow’s fate.

Snow, who was left for dead at the end of season five, is a prominent feature in the short teaser and poster which shows his blood-stained face.

The trailer is mostly made up of flashback footage with a montage of some of GoT’s most jaw-dropping scenes, including Lady Catelyn’s throat being cut at the Red Wedding, Ned Stark being beheaded, Joffrey’s death and Jaime Lannister having his hand chopped off.

A voiceover from Bran Stark, played by Isaac Hempstead Wright and his new mentor, the Three-Eyed Raven (now played by Max von Sydow), can be heard as the viewers are told “they have no idea what’s going to happen”.

That much is true, since the sixth season marks the first time the TV show has moved beyond the books. The show is scheduled for release in April 2016.
