At the end of 2014 the band were due to appear on his last programme, but they were denied the opportunity because they didn’t get a visa in time. However, Ferguson had his crew, studio audience and various guests lip sync their song Bang Your Drum, pushing it to No 1 on the Amazon download chart in the process. Back home, the band have been going from strength to strength and their latest single, Calexico – an upbeat piece of synth, bass and guitar driven pop, complete with mariachi trumpet interjections, and inspired by the visa rejection – is released this weekend. The song is due to be featured on tomorrow’s Janice Forsyth show on Radio Scotland, and the band play Glasgow’s Oran Mor on 23 December.
