My perfect weekend: Fiona Burrell

Fiona Burrell is the principal of the Edinburgh New Town Cookery School

Who would be your ideal weekend companion and why? My husband, Charles, because we are both so busy with work or ferrying teenagers around we rarely get time to spend together just the two of us.

Where would you take them in Edinburgh? A walk up Arthur’s Seat to get a good blow of fresh air and also to see the panoramic views of the city.

Where would you go for breakfast/lunch/dinner? We would go to The Olive Branch on Broughton Street where they do great Eggs Benedict for breakfast. My choice would be Harvey Nichols’ Forth Floor Brasserie for a light lunch and to enjoy the fantastic Edinburgh skyline. In the evening, if we were pushing the boat out, we are spoilt for choice in Edinburgh, but I do love The Castle Terrace Restaurant, so we would go there.

What one item would you not be without? In this weather, my warm gloves!

How would your perfect weekend finish? Watching a great film sitting on a sofa in the Dominion Cinema in Morningside with a glass of chilled white wine!
