They say man is a dog's best friend but  Kobe has Facebook to thank for reuniting him with his owner.

The Alaskan Malmute, who has run ten marathons with his owner David Parry, escaped his lead and chased after a deer on Sunday morning at Ba Bridge on the West Highland Way between Glencoe Ski Centre and Bridge of Orchy.

Kobe's owner David Parry, who lives in Glasgow, said: "It just shows you the power of social media.

"Kobe is back where he belongs after being on a Highland Adventure for nearly 48 hours. He is shattered and very sheepish but delighted to be home and we are even more delighted to have him.

"We would like to thank everyone involved in getting him back to us safe."

David runs a non-profit group called Team AKobE Marathon Community (TAM) which aims to get people and their dogs more active.

He said: "Kobe was a rescue dog and we have had for four years. He had been abused before and running has helped to improve his life.

"TAM aims to get people moving more be it through walking, jogging, running, cycling or swimming. Dogs are encouraged but you don't have to one to participate in our events."
