McEwan to adapt his bestseller for opera

IAN McEwan's widely-acclaimed novel Atonement is to be made into an opera.

The best-selling author and two of his friends are working on an adaptation which would bring the story of doomed love, the film of which starred Keira Knightley and James McAvoy, to the stage.
