The discovery was made yesterday afternoon at the Strathallan Castle site, in Auchterarder, as the second day of the music festival got underway.

The death was currently being treated as unexplained and the man’s family has been informed.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We can confirm that the body of a 36-year-old man was found on a campsite at T in the Park this afternoon. The death is currently being treated as unexplained.

“As is standard procedure in all such cases, a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal. Next of kin have been notified.”

In a separate incident, officers are making inquiries into a video showing what is believed to be an assault taking place at the campsite.

The short clip – which has been posted on Facebook – appears to show a man being attacked. Officers appealed for anyone with information that could assist the inquiry to come forward urgently.

Police Scotland said yesterday that 25 arrests had been made at the event, a similar number to last year.

A crowd of about 85,000 was expected over the weekend at the Perthshire site, which hosted the festival for the first time. Concerns were raised about traffic arrangements for the event, and the potential for anti-social behaviour.

Superintendent Colin Brown, of Police Scotland, said: “The vast majority of people have enjoyed themselves and taken our advice and behaved responsibly.

“However, a small number have ignored that advice and have been dealt with. Our advice is simple – look after yourselves and your friends, behave and have a good time.”

Festival organisers have also apologised following delays at pick-up points.

Additional measures were put in place for the end of last night’s show, including extra stewarding and more signage, they said.
