Lonesome pine by Gus MacPherson, Culloden Moor

It was a veritable winter wonderland in the Highlands on Christmas Day, with this snow-capped Scots pine standing proud of the drifts in woodland near Gus MacPherson's home, not far from the battlefield at Culloden. "This picture captures the weather we had in the area over the festive period: cold, snowy, with clear blue skies – perfect weather for the Christmas season," he says.
