Isle of Skye to host new music festival
DJs Andrew Weatherall and Sean Johnston will be headlining the Skye Live event, which is hoped to attract around 1000 festival-goers a night to Portree.

Hide AdOrganisers say they will have a mix of dance music acts and live bands performing under a large marquee over the Easter holiday weekend in what they described as “one of the most stunning places in the UK for a festival.”
Two of the island’s leading Celtic groups. the Peatbog Faeries and Niteworks, have also been booked for the event, which is being launched eight years after the demise of the ill-fated Skye Music Festival, which folded after running up huge debts.
Promoter Niall Munro told The Scotsman: “Since the sad demise of the former Skye Music Festival a number of years ago, I have felt that it was important to do something special here again on Skye, as it is such a unique and beautiful island location and just the perfect place for a small festival of this type.
“The event is will be held in an old amphitheatre where the Highland Games are hosted each year.
“This spot offers the perfect location, stunning grounds and views, is easily accessed from the centre of Portree and offers all the amenities required, meaning the festival - whilst relatively small in scale - will nevertheless contribute significantly to the local economy.
“Our desire is to promote a great and well managed event which the island can be proud of and which can have a sustainable future as an interesting and exciting part of the island’s cultural life.”
