PREPARATIONS for the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow are well underway, as shown by aerial footage of key sites for next year’s Games.

The Athlete’s Village in Dalmarnock, in the city’s east end, can be seen, along with the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome between the village and Celtic Park. The Emirates Arena, adjoined to the Velodrome, will boast three sports halls and a 5,000 seater capacity.

Kelvingrove is to host next year’s Lawn Bowls competition, which already has five world-class bowling greens installed within a 2,500-seat arena.

Elsewhere, The Foster & Partners-designed Scottish Hydro Arena, a 12,000-seat arena which will become Scotland’s largest entertainment venue, is taking shape adjacent to the Clyde Auditorium in Finnieston Quay.
