In pictures: David Cassidy's time in Scotland

Cassidy played Scotland a total of nine times, the most recent being in 2008 at the Clyde Auditorium in Glasgow.
The star, who shot to fame in the sitcom The Partridge Family, first performed here in 1974 at Shawfield Stadium, the former home of Clyde FC.

And his effect on his teenage fans was clear to see.
He later said he was blown away by the welcome he received during the visit:
“From the airport to Glasgow, all the streets were lined with people just to see me and I’ll never forget it. I’ve never seen anything like it. All the way into town there were thousands of kids and their parents. It was so moving. It was incredibly supportive. Never had I seen people waiting to see my car going by.”

Two days later, an incident occurred that would put an abrupt end to David Cassidy’s touring.
During the White City Stadium gig in London, almost 800 spectators were injured in a crush towards the front of the stage, and 30, including 14-year-old Bernadette Whelan, were taken to hospital. Ms Whelan sadly died of a heart attack.
David returned to the stage to a limited extent during the 1980s, and also appeared for a gig in Scotland, this time at the Edinburgh Playhouse in 1985. The Playhouse concert would be the star’s last visit to Scotland for 16 years.
