Highlights: Dancing all the way to Falkirk

AS PART of the NTS programme for January to March next year, the NTS and Falkirk Community Trust will oversee Reasons to Dance, a major new arts project exploring why people dance, their memories of dancing, and traditions associated with the activity.

Directed by Gillian Gourlay and Philippa Tomlin, the initiative will culminate next March in a “major theatrical event created with, by, and for the people of Falkirk” in a “surprise” location.

Also new is The Bothy Project, which will gather the stories of those people who use bothies throughout Scotland’s rural areas. Elsewhere, Long Gone Lonesome, a celebrated musical tribute by Duncan McLean, below, to Shetland musician Thomas Fraser, will go on tour across US venues in the likes of Chicago, Texas, Florida, Indiana, and Pennsylvania, while the award-winning Beautiful Burnout play, above, recipient of a Scotsman Fringe First Award, will tour Australia and New Zealand.
