Hidden Gems: The Treehouse, 44 Leven Street

WHEN Emma Hilder opened The Treehouse cafe in Tollcross two years ago, she fulfilled a life-long ambition to have her own business.

And there has been no looking back for the talented entrepreneur who is without question at the heart of the venture, baking its delicious cakes on site every day. Emma spent years as a student working in cafes and restaurants across the Capital, and she has used her experience to create the perfect relaxing spot, just a stone's throw from Bruntsfield Links, the King's Theatre and the Cameo cinema.

Customers can expect a relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff and delicious, fresh food and drink.

Choose from generous cooked breakfasts, porridge and mouth-watering cakes and sweet treats, as well as a strong selection of soups, sandwiches, paninis and toasties, all at surprisingly reasonable prices.

The coffee is also a must and something the eatery has developed quite a reputation for with locals.

This Sunday, The Treehouse celebrates is second birthday and, as with every Sunday, live music will be performed from 3pm – and occasionally it's the ultra-talented Emma who sings.
