Hidden Gems: Quinne Bags

THERE is something instantly appealing about Quinne Bags – its originality.

Launched at the end of last year, this online business is the brainchild of Newhaven's Gail Napier, who can turn the dingiest bit of material into something sparkling.

A maths graduate, the talented Edinburgh designer took a leap into the unknown when she set up Quinne, building on a life-long interest in fabrics and handmade items.

And there is no turning back, with popularity for the website steadily growing.

Quinne sells unique, handcrafted bags, as well as other quirky items, including the ever-popular "house" draft excluder, made to look like a row of buildings.

Bespoke creations are also an option for customers who often donate material – or clothes – to be turned into something brand new.

Ms Napier was inspired by a talented grandmother and mother (who made her own wedding dress), and eventually started selling homemade pieces in K1 Yarns on Victoria Street, where she buys much of her materials and still supplies many pieces for sale.

Customers should expect a personal service and beautiful creations. Perfect.
