The choirs say it is a “gift” from Scotland to the people of New York to demonstrate their compassion for lives lost and support for communities affected by the atrocities.

Mr Russel will lead the groups, who leave tomorrow morning from Edinburgh airport, as they prepare to perform at a number of official events including The September Concert, a commemorative service at the British Garden at Hanover Square and the New York Police Department Commemoration Concert, as well as giving free performances in various locations across Manhattan.
