Golden moment: Ian Rutherford’s iconic photograph

An award-winning Scotsman photographer has been honoured for his talents in this year’s Johnston Press Group awards.

Ian Rutherford was awarded Photographer of the Year for his striking images taken over the past 12 months, including the expressive face pulled by Mo Farah as he crossed the finish line to win the 5,000-metre race for Great Britain during last summer’s London Olympic Games. Mr Rutherford, who has worked as a staff photographer for The Scotsman for 23 years, also captured the moment Sir Chris Hoy became Britain’s most medalled Olympian after winning six gold medals.
