The image was created on a beach using just sticks and rakes to honour a 300-year-old Stradivarius violin loaned to the annual East Neuk Festival in Fife, Scotland.

It was designed by the Sand in Your Eye team, Jamie Wardley and Claire Jamieson, who made the perspective-warping artwork over several hours.

The artwork on Elie beach was created at low tide and washed away within hours.

The festival’s programme runs for the full week with music from composers such as Bartok, Beethoven and Mozart.
