Games: Money Island 2 Special Edition: Le Chuck's Revenge

iPhone/PC/PS3/XB, 1200MS/£9.99

Released in 1991, Ron Gilbert's swashbuckling sequel quickly registered as one of the best point 'n' click adventures in gaming history. Almost 20 years later, this HD revamped edition may almost be a carbon copy of that same adventure, but none of the humour or charm has been lost along the way.

The unfortunately-named aspiring pirate Guybrush Threepwood returns and it's up to players to help him locate a mysterious treasure called Big Whoop. Ghostly pirate Le Chuck also returns to make Threepwood's life difficult. Penned by industry legends Ron Gilbert and Tim Schafer, the script is a hilarious, dry-witted riot from start to finish.

As this is a revamp, the visuals have been given a glorious HD touch-up, the screen awash with colour. Voiceovers and the control system have also been tweaked. Players can also revert back to the old graphical style and audio at any time if they want to relive the original adventure as intended.

Perhaps best of all, the game now comes with an audio commentary featuring the original creators, which is perhaps just as hilarious as the games' barrage of in-jokes. Although some of the puzzles may prove taxing, the game never feels like a drag, even after so many years. In short, it's a timeless classic.
