Game of Thrones to screen at same time in UK & USA

NEW episodes of fantasy drama Game of Thrones are to be broadcast simultaneously in the UK and the United States, it has been announced.

The show’s fourth series will begin on the HBO network in the States at 9pm on Sunday 6 April. Sky Atlantic, which broadcasts the show to UK viewers, will show episodes at 2am on Monday, then repeat the episodes at 9pm on the same day.

The news came as the show’s cast, including stars Sophie Turner and Iain Glen, appeared at the UK premiere of the new season in London.

Turner, who plays Sansa Stark, said: “The great thing about Game Of Thrones is it’s going more away from the books as we go on, so it’s all very hush-hush secret. We really have no idea what’s going to happen.

“There are a lot of shocks consistently the whole way through this season.”

The series, based on novels by George R.R. Martin, has received critical acclaim and garnered legions of loyal fans around the world.

Game of Thrones was named as 2013’s most-pirated television programme, with almost 6 million illegal downloads of the final episode of the third series.
