For a festive feast, try a flavour of France right on your own doorstep

IF you're looking for somewhere to dine out this weekend, look no further than La Garrigue, on Jeffrey Street.

Quite possibly one of the finest French restaurants in Britain, La Garrigue takes its name from the arid land in the Languedoc region of France, stretching from the Cevennes to the coast and from the Camargue to the Pyrenees.

The restaurant has proved a winner all year round with customers who have been visiting in their droves since it opened in July 2001 with ex-Sheraton executive chef Jean Michel Gauffre at the helm.

But this Christmas is a particularly good time to visit the Old Town restaurant, which recently featured on Gordon Ramsay's Best Restaurant television series.

For the first ever time, La Garrigue is opening its doors to customers on Christmas Day, offering a mouth-watering five-course menu for just 60, boasting the likes of baked salmon, beetroot risotto and creamy chestnut and smoked bacon soup, not to mention a range of stunning deserts, including spiced poached pear with ice nougat.

For those of you looking to head out for a festive meal before the big day, La Garrigue is also offering Christmas lunches (12pm to 2:30pm) and dinners all month. Book a table now to avoid disappointment.

For more information, call the restaurant on 0131-557 3032, visit www.lagarrigue.co.uk or drop in at 31 Jeffrey Street.
