Food news: Tasting menu with added fizz

The Wee Restaurant, in North Queensferry, is hosting its first champagne tasting dinner on May 11 at 7pm.

The evening will be hosted by Philippe Larue from L'Art Du Vin, with Christophe Galez from the champagne house Thienot.

Tickets cost 85 per person and include a four-course menu featuring Anstruther lobster, Glamis asparagus and smoked Kirriemuir venison, as well as a drink on arrival and champagne with each course.

• Local chef Scott Spink, from Craigie's Farm Deli and Caf near South Queensferry, has reached the final of the Scotland Food and Drink Young Chef Excellence Award.

The award recognises talent in young chefs aged 16 to 24 and will be announced on May 26.

Scott is famed among regulars for his signature dish, Puddledub Beef Wellington.
