McVie’s diagnosis has forced the band to cancel the Australia and New Zealand shows on their highly-anticipated world tour, which visited the new Glasgow Hydro venue earlier this month.

In a statement McVie’s bandmates Lindsay Buckingham, Stevie Nicks and Mick Fleetwood said: “We hope fans everywhere will join us in wishing John and his family all the best.”

McVie was one of the founding members of the band, who have sold more than 100 million albums since their formation in 1967.
