THE TIM VINE CHAT SHOW: As before, the audience are the stars of the show as Tim Vine brings his sell-out 2011 hit back to the Fringe. He was runner-up for the Edinburgh joke of the year last year with the line: “Crime in multi-storey car parks. That is wrong on so many different levels.”

PUNK ROCK: Skins actor Will Merrick stars in this powerful exploration of the end of childhood, following seven mismatched sixth-formers through their final months at a Stockport grammar. Don’t go expecting a grown-up version of Grange Hill, this one has a real sting in its tail.

VIRGINIA GAY – DIRTY PRETTY SONGS: The star of ITV2’s Winners and Losers, below, sings pretty songs real dirty, and dirty songs real pretty. Part cabaret expose and guerilla stand-up, this is a foul-mouthed, twisted extravaganza of soul, sex and some of your favourite pop songs.

KIDS

HANS CHRISTIAN ANDERSEN’S THE SNOW QUEEN: As the story unfolds, the strength of the group becomes apparent, each performer taking on a number of roles, but it isn’t only the cast that is impressive. The props, a mix of everyday items, see a shoe, a coat hanger and a shirt become a raven; books and gloves become birds; a mop with a scarf become a horse, and scarves and sheets are used to great effect. Treat your family to this accomplished piece of theatre.
