WHAT IS IT?

Marvel Studios has premiered the first trailer for upcoming superhero sequel Captain America: Civil War, which is due out in April 2016. Phase three of Marvel’s Cinematic Universe, Captain America: Civil War sees Chris Evans reprise his role as the captain, while Robert Downey Jnr is back as Iron Man in his first appearance in this particular franchise. The dueling duo are joined by Scarlett Johansson, Anthony Mackie, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle, Sebastian Stan, Paul Bettany, and Elizabeth Olsen.

WHAT’S IT ABOUT?

Captain America finds himself leading a new team of Avengers in their ongoing efforts to save the world. However, political pressures see the Avengers split into two factions: one headed up by Rogers who stays true to his humanitarian roots, and the other by Tony Stark (Iron Man), who bows to US government directives. The Captain’s team includes Scarlet Witch (Olsen) and Hawkeye (Renner) while Iron Man has Black Widow (Johansson) and War Machine (Cheadle) on his side.

DOES IT LOOK ANY GOOD?

The epic, climatic trailer gives a glimpse of the battle Marvel fans have been waiting for in the third standalone film of the franchise. The rivalry is as strong as ever: at one point, Downey Jnr tells Evans, “Sometimes I want to punch you in your perfect teeth.” A first glimpse of Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther looks promising, and we can expect Tom Holland to feature as the new Spider-Man (we know). After the mixed reviews of Avengers: Age of Ultron earlier this year, Civil War looks set to get Marvel back on track.
