Film trailer of the week: This Is The End

An apocalypse comedy starring Seth Rogen, James Franco, Jonah Hill, Jay Baruchel, Danny McBride and Craig Robinson - all playing themselves

What is it?

A comedy about the end of the world.

Of course, Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright’s new film! Looking forward to that.

No, that’s The World’s End. This one has Seth Rogen, James Franco, Jonah Hill, Jay Baruchel, Danny McBride and Craig Robinson – all playing themselves – holed up in Franco’s apartment as an apocalyptic event unfolds around them.

What sort of apocalpytic event?

The trailer is a little light on details. Buildings are on fire, a crate falls on a shopkeeper’s head, a street collapses, and Michael Cera is dead (“So it’s not a total loss, then,” quips McBride). The brief shot of people trapped by beams of blue light suggests an alien invasion, but given the tone of the rest of the trailer (lots of jokes about getting high, drinking your own pee, and Seth Rogen being rubbish in Green Hornet), that could just be one of the characters on an acid trip.

When is it out?

29 June.
