In The Fog (12A)

A railway worker (Vladimir Svirskiy) in occupied Belarus is unjustly accused by his partisan comrades of being a Nazi collaborator, and is unable to prove his innocence even to his wife. Ukrainian Sergei Loznitsa directs this slow-moving but suspenseful period picture. Well worth sticking with for its staggering payoff.

On selected release including Glasgow Film Theatre, 14-15 May

Dead Man Down (15)

A woman (Noomi Rapace) whose face was ruined by a drunken driver makes a deal with a gang enforcer (Colin Farrell) to seek revenge in this watchable, moody potboiler. Contains scenes of violence and Tupperware.

On general release from Friday

The Eye Of The Storm (15)

* * *

Geoffrey Rush and Judy Davis return to Australia to see their wealthy dying mother. The barbed combination of toxic mother and opportunistic offspring is promising, and occasionally delivers.

Cineworld, Glasgow, from Friday

Robosapien (PG)

* * *

A boy finds and fixes a broken robot in cheerful Josh and S.A.M. rip-off. Suitable for kids who aren’t too bothered by sub-par animation and clanky exchanges.

On selected release from Friday

Chimpanzee (U)

* * *

Relentlessly anthropomorphic documentary of a baby chimp, whose life and times seems overneatly patterned after the Lion King.

On general release from Friday

21 And Over (15)

* *

Aggressively unfunny student version of The Hangover. You’d have to be well under 21 to find its scatology and vomit scenes amusing.

On general release from Friday

All Stars (U)

* *

Yet another street dance talent show competition, this time aimed at an audience of 12 and under. Includes Ashley Jensen, John Barrowman and a lot of stage school mugging.

On general release from Friday
