Donald Trump’s The Art of the Deal: The Movie stars Depp in heavy prosthetics as the property tycoon and takes its title from his bestselling book.

The film, directed by Adam McKay, is a mock TV movie which follows his road to success and guides others on how to do the same.

Depp’s role as Trump is one of the many delusional and unbalanced characters he has taken on over the years having recently starred as mob boss James “Whitey” Bulger in Black Mass. Ron Howard, Alfred Molina and Christopher Lloyd also star in the short production.

The film was kept a secret for months but finally saw release after Trump took victory in the New Hampshire primary.

Some of the pearls of wisdom embedded in the film include Trump telling a young fan that “successful people are always on the phone, even if there’s no-one on the other end” and the tale of how he started with “nothing but the shirt on my back and a small million dollar loan from my father”.

In another tongue-in-cheek scene featuring Henry Winkler, the pair discuss the businessman’s discrimination lawsuits as Trump lists his favourite ethnic minorities.

Funny Or Die was co-founded by Will Ferrell and McKay, the latter of whom directed the Oscar-nominated The Big Short and the Anchorman movies.

Speaking to the New York Times, McKay said: “It was a crazy, completely nuts idea that somehow we pulled off.”
