Britain's Got Talent 2016: Could Scots gymnasts Spartan Resurrection win?

A SHOW-STOPPING performance by a Scottish gymnastics troupe '“ described as 'Game of Thrones with crash mats' '“ wowed judges on Britain's Got Talent last weekend.

Amanda Holden and her fellow judges – Simon Cowell, David Walliams and Alesha Dixon – saw Spartan Resurrection somersault across the stage and to the next round of the ITV show as all four praised the Fife-based group.

Spartan Resurrection’s gladiator-inspired costumes prompted Holden to compare them to Game of Thrones – and they showed plenty of bravery to merit the comparison, too.

Made up of 18 gymnasts between the ages of 13-23, Spartan Resurrection will hope to follow in the footsteps of fellow Scots Jai McDowall, who won the show in 2011, and Susan Boyle, a runner-up in 2009 and now a bona fide star.

The 18 acrobats who performed over the weekend are from The Spartans Gymnastics Club, founded in 1973.
