Sandé, who won two Brit Awards last week for best album and best female, first worked with Boyle during last summer’s widely-acclaimed Olympic Games opening ceremony, which was overseen by the Trainspotting director.

Boyle’s latest film, Trance, will also feature soundtrack work from Underworld’s Rick Smith, who will write the score for the psychological thriller.

The Aberdeenshire singer-songwriter has sung on and co-written one of the tracks to be included in the film.

Sandé said: “It was wonderful to work with Rick again after the amazing time I had with him putting together the track for the opening ceremony at the Olympics.

“I was honoured to be asked to collaborate with him again for the film and, with his help, I believe we have created something very special.”

Smith, who is one-half of Underworld, said that the project was “creatively exciting and inspiring.”
