There are thousands of shows in Edinburgh this month. Please explain why we should come and see yours.
Because I’m in it and I’m fabulous! I can also guarantee that the things you’ll see in Ginger Johnson Blows Off you won’t see anywhere else on the Fringe. Or in the world. Or in the universe. I’m excited about it and I don’t get excited about anything anymore.

Hide AdWhat will we learn from your show that we didn’t know before?
Just how far I am willing to go for a round of applause! Since winning Drag Race I’ve reinvented myself and I’m using this show as my way of launching the all new, all singing, all dancing, all stunt-ing Ginger Johnson!
Who or what was the biggest inspiration for your show?
Since my dream of winning Drag Race has come true, it’s time to follow a new dream. This show is that new dream. It’s inspired by 1980s light entertainment, circus shows (as you remember them, not as they actually were), Evel Knievel, daredevils, and the many brave and stupid people who have come before me in the entertainment industry.
What’s the best review you’ve ever had, and the worst?
I think they’re the same thing. It was a Guardian review for a musical I’d written with a friend and they said it was “crap”. Ever since then I’ve included it in all my marketing material. I figure if the Guardian think I’m crap then I’m probably doing something right.
Who or what are you most excited about seeing this year?

Hide AdI can’t wait to see Kate Butch Wuthering Shites, she’s quite good when she makes an effort. I’m also looking forward to judging all the Silent Disco people, out loud. They’ll never know.
Who do you most like spending time with in Edinburgh?
I absolutely love spending time with people who only want to talk about themselves, so the Edinburgh Fringe is the perfect place for me to go.
Tell us something about you that would surprise people.
In 2001 I had my colon removed because it contained asbestos. Safety first!
What are the best and worst things that have happened to you at a festival?

Hide AdWorst thing: Glastonbury 2014 I got actual trench foot because I wore the same pair of plastic stilettos for five days.
Best thing: Glastonbury 2014 watching Dolly Parton stood in a group of 25 drag queens all dressed as Dolly Parton. With trench foot.
What’s the first thing you do in the morning and the last thing you do at night?
First thing I do is thank the universe for my unrelenting beauty. Last thing I do is listen to boring people talk about boring things on boring podcasts because it’s the only way to get me off to sleep.

Speak to my manager, I’ll see if I can pencil you in.
