While the iconic Fringe isn’t going ahead in Edinburgh this year, let’s look back on some of the most famous names that owe the festival some of their success.
9. Miranda Hart
Miranda Hart first appeared in 1994 with a self proclaimed "terrible show" which was cancelled due to no audience. She came back each year from 2000 to 2005 before perfecting the show we know now as the TV programme Miranda Photo: Frederick M. Brown
10. Robin Williams
Williams attended the Fringe in 1971 with his student theatre company, where they were invited to perform their Wild West version of The Taming of the Shrew. They won Best Production, and even performed for Princess Margaret Photo: Peter Kramer
