Audiences at the 2024 Edinburgh Fringe have been treated to shows of all varieties, from comedy to dance.
But with more than 3,000 shows on this year’s programme which have been best so far?
From award favourites like Sarah Keyworth to comedians such as Garry Starr - who has not one, but two 5 star shows - The Scotsman’s reviewers have been out in force since the festival began.
Here are all of the Edinburgh Fringe shows that Scotsman reviewers have given 5-stars, including comedians, musicals, dance and theatre performances.

5. Dance – Ten Thousand Hours
Ten Thousand Hours, named so for the amount of time it takes to hone a skill, is a five-star Fringe show by contemporary circus troupe Gravity & Other Myths. With remarkably friendly and approachable performers, you will be enthralled throughout regardless of how nail biting it feels. | Contributed

6. Dance – Lewis Major: Triptych
Dance fans should absolutely be trying to get their hands on tickets for Lewis Major’s show Triptych. Made up of four parts which each take the show’s choreography and lighting to new heights, our review says it is “a triumph from start to finish”. | Chris Herzfeld

7. Theatre – Monkeys Everywhere
Remarkably the first of Garry Starr’s 5-star Fringe shows this year, Monkeys Everywhere is a new children’s show which had both parents and offspring laughing. Using monkeys as a metaphor for intrusive thoughts, Starr’s show is full of “sensitivity, wit and charm”. | Contributed

8. Theatre – A History of Paper
A stage play which features music, A History of Paper was among the earliest Fringe shows to be awarded 5-stars by The Scotsman. Its classic narrative with powerful themes is beautifully paced and written “with never a word wasted”. | Traverse Theatre
