Edinburgh artist Arran Ross plans new exhibition

A MAJOR new exhibition will open next week showcasing works by Edinburgh artist Arran Ross.

Featuring brand new works including sculpture, paintings and photographs, the ‘Black Star Landing’ exhibition represents a large selection of his work to date.

Best known for his sci-fi inspired canvasses, along with sculptures and photographic work, the show charts his development from the Nineties up until the present day, including landscapes redolent of Surrealist Giorgio De Chirico.

Previously a winner of the JD Fergusson award as well as a gong from the Pollock Krasner Foundation NY, Ross has undertaken a number of residencies in Ireland, Wales, Holland and Scotland.

His ‘Astronaut’ series of photos, in which a sculpture of an astronaut is pictured around the country in various locations such as the mountains on Skye or street scenes in Edinburgh, is one of his more widely-recognised works, and in 2008 he exhibited ‘Yard in Space’ as part of the International Science Festival.

The exhibition will be held at The Sutton Gallery on Dundas Street, from March 14th to April 4th.
