The article, published earlier this month, cites the three ‘Js’ - jute, jam and journalism - as the city’s famous traditions, but says that Dundee is ‘reinventing itself as a destination for food and art’.

Focusing on the upcoming opening of the V&A Museum of Design in 2017 as a ‘new international centre of design in Scotland’, the article also pays tribute to the Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design as ‘one of the best art schools in Europe’.

Also the birthplace of marmalade, the article suggests checking out the ‘new restaurant scene’ in the City of Discovery, adding that Dundee is ‘rapidly catching up with [restaurants] in Edinburgh and Glasgow.’

The article prompted a lot of discussion, with one Facebook user writing: “I’ve visited most of the Major cities in Europe and can say none come near to Dundee - a great, great place to live. London, Paris, Manchester, Madrid etc.......not even close!”

However, another comment read: “This has to be one of the laziest articles I’ve ever read. Dundee is an amazing place on so many levels but you have managed to make it seem so mundane.”

But a third commenter pointed out: “I really do not understand why anyone would want to take an article that paints a city in a good light and do what ever they can to destroy it.”

What do you think? Is Dundee the ‘coolest little city in Britain’?
