Dolly Parton to play Aberdeen conference centre

COUNTRY music superstar Dolly Parton is to appear at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference centre next summer, it was revealed today.

Parton will perform at the GE Oil & Gas Arena on Sunday, 15 June, as part of her “Blue Smoke World Tour.”

She said: “Every time I come to Europe I’m just as excited as I was my very first time, which was many, many years ago. I love that part of the world and I especially love the fans.”

She added: “We always have such a good time and I’ve put together a lot of things for this show that I think the fans will love. We had not planned to come back so soon, but we got so much fan mail and such a great reaction that I thought ‘Well, why not. If they’re having a good time and we always do, let’s just do it’.”

Brian Horsburgh, the AECC’s managing director said: “We are delighted that a performer of this magnitude has chosen to include AECC’s GE Oil & Gas Arena on her World Tour, which reinforces our position as the largest music venue in the North of Scotland. We look forward to welcoming Dolly Parton to the venue and are sure this will be highly sought after event for summer 2014.”

Tickets for Dolly Parton’s Blue Smoke World Tour go on sale from Friday.
