Doctor Who: First picture of Peter Capaldi

New Dr Who star Peter Capaldi, famed for his role as The Thick Of It’s foul-mouthed Malcolm Tucker, became the 12th Doctor during the long-running BBC television series’ Christmas Day special.
And BBC bosses have now released the first picture of Capaldi’s character, in full time lord get-up - no doubt much to the delight of fans and fancy dress aficionados.

Lifelong Dr Who fan Capaldi said: “He’s woven the future from the cloth of the past. Simple, stark, and back to basics.
“No frills, no scarf, no messing, just 100% rebel time lord.”
Dr Who boss Steven Moffat said the new era meant for a new outfit.

Charlotte Moore, controller of BBC One, said: “Peter Capaldi’s Doctor is officially recorded in history today with the unveiling of his new costume. It’s sharp, smart and stylish - The 12th time lord means business.”
